Dietary Supplements

What you need to know?

Dietary supplements include vitamins, minerals, herbs, and many other products that can come packaged as pills, capsules, powders, drinks, and energy bars that claim to produce healthful benefits.

Before taking any dietary Supplements, it is best to know what you are taking, and how it may affect your body, or those of your loved ones.

Safety and Risk

Many supplements contain active ingredients that can have strong effects on your body. Moreover, dietary supplements do not have to undergo the mandated testing that drugs and medication do. You must be aware of the possibility of unexpected side effects when taking one or more of these products.

- Taking or Combining supplements

- Using supplements together with medicines

- Substituting supplements for prescription medication

- Taking dietary supplements if you are pregnant, nursing, or giving them to a child.

Keep in Mind!

NEVER self-diagnose and prescribe dietary supplements for yourself to treat any condition you may have!

NEVER take or combine dietary supplements with any prescribed medications without consulting your Doctor!

NEVER take supplements if you are scheduled for any surgical procedure without consulting your doctor!

NEVER assume that “Natural” or “Organic” always means safe!

NEVER take supplements without checking its packaging!

If your supplement states “This product is not a medicinal drug and should not be used to treat symptoms of any disease.” or “Mahalagang Paalala: Ang (name of product) ay hindi gamot at hindi dapat gamiting panggamot sa anumang uri ng sakit”, it means that its healthful effects may not be proven.

ALWAYS consult a Doctor before taking any supplements.
