A cold or the flu?


A cold is a milder respiratory illness than the flu. While cold symptoms can make you feel bad for a few days, flu symptoms can make you feel quite ill for a few days to weeks. The flu can also result in serious health problems such as pneumonia and hospitalization.

Good hygiene is one of the most important ways to help prevent colds and flu (influenza) and that includes:


- washing your hands regularly and properly
- sneezing and coughing into tissues
- throw disposable tissues immediately after using them
- cleaning surfaces regularly to get rid of germs
- not sharing cups, plates and cutlery
- avoid sharing towels with other people
